Hacienda
Tijax is located in Fronteras, Izabal, close to the bridge crossing over
the Rio Dulce. This is a natural stopover for "Maya Route "
travelers.
You should get to Rio Dulce at the town of Fronteras and ask for "Hacienda Tijax Lancha". Please call 7930-5505 and
we'll send you a boat transportation to get to Tijax.
From

How
to get here?

From
Guatemala City : There are three
major bus companies which go to Fronteras: Litegua and Fuente Del Norte
(around US$ 10) and Linea Dorada offers a more
luxurious service (around US$ 20). Another option is taking a shuttle
bus from one of several tour operators listed below. (Around US$ 30). Aproximately a 5
hour trip. For more information on transportation visit Litegua, Linea

From
Antigua: You may take a local bus to Guatemala City and continue
from there to Rio Dulce. Aproximately a 5 1/2 hour trip. Recommended travel agencies
to visit around Antigua are Sin Fronteras, Rainbow Travel, Viaventure, Adrenalina Tours, Viajes Iboy, Viajes Sacbé, Ativos.
From Puerto Barrios: You can take any bus along the Carretera
Atlantico (Atlantic Highway) and get off at La Ruidosa junction. From
there you can catch a local bus north to Fronteras. (Local buses stop
running after dark.). Aproximately a 1 hour trip. Litegua offers comfortable transportation from Puerto Barrios to Rio Dulce.
From Flores, Peten: Various
bus companies run buses from Flores to Fronteras, such as Fuente Del Norte, Linea
Dorada or ADN. Aproximately a 4 hour trip.
From
Livingston: Water taxis (Tiburoneras)
can be found at the municipal dock which will bring you to Fronteras.
The water taxis will drop you off directly in front of the Tijax
office. Aproximately a 1 hour trip. Visit Happy

Guatemala is easy to get to by air. Ask your travel agent for more information
about daily flights from cities in the United States, Europe, and elsewhere.
You can also visit Taca Airlines, Continental Airlines or American Airlines.
We
have land and water access. Boat shuttles run out from Fronteras all day
and a twenty minute walk will bring you from the center of town straight
into Hacienda Tijax.

TIPS
SECURITY: DO NOT pay attention to the hustlers on the street they are pickpockets and drug dealers and usually misinform passengers about prices and availability of rooms.
